Neighborhood Appearance
Hurricanes, Ponds and Lawns, Oh My ...

Wow what a hurricane season we are having. I am glad the worst is over. It was tough and a little crazy at time. From what I hear everyone faired well, thankfully. Not too much damage and not too much to clean up. While we are on that subject of cleaning up we all know what a chore it is. Having a lawn manicured and attractive is hard work, but can be satisfying when someone remarks about how nice it looks. Did you know that all of our ponds are connected? Did you also know that all the water from the street drains into our ponds? This is just a reminder that grass clippings from mowers, lawn edgers, and weed whackers should be picked up promptly. Not only does it detract from the attractiveness of your property, but when left on the curbside or in the street the rains will wash the clippings into our ponds leavings an unsightly residue on the surface. This is counter productive to us paying to have the ponds treated and not a very attractive feature…. Wouldn’t you agree???

Whether you maintain your own lawn or someone else does it for you, you are encouraged to reach out to you neighbors for lawn care information. Even though lawn care is not his business, David Lashley, one of our Advisory members, is State Certified Operator in Florida in Lawn & Ornamental, he is willing to look at anyone’s lawn for identification, such as, insects, fungus, weed control & fertilization free of charge. Everyone is encouraged to lend a helping hand to your neighbors. Please feel free to contact any advisory board member if you need help with you yard work. Everyone can use some extra hands from time to time.

Annual Homeowner Association Meeting
Please make plans to attend

It is that time of year for the Confederate Crossing Annual Home Owner Association meeting. This year our meeting will be Saturday November 6th. All home owners are asked to meet up at the Sales trailer a few minutes before 9 a.m. Mr. Walter Williams will be presiding over the meeting. Please, come out and hear what is NEW in our ever growing Subdivision. Many of you have asked if we were going to do another Fall Festival. We are sorry to report that the answer is no. We were unable to get the sponsorship that we did last year. However, we would still like to have a Meet & Greet of all our new and old Neighbors. With that in mind, we are asking everyone to stay after our Annual home Owners meeting on November 6th. We will be providing coffee, orange juice and donuts.

Happy Holidays, Almost

Believe it or not, there are less than 85 days left till Christmas. That is right, Christmas. Never to early to start planning. Once again, we would like to decorate the Neighborhood for Christmas. Come and join the advisory board members on December 4th at 9 a.m. at the Community sign to decorate. We have some things left over from last year. If you would like to donate other Christmas decorations please contact and/or drop by your donations to one of the Advisory Board Members. We are definitely in need of 2 or 3 outdoor extension cords. We would like to see participation from others besides the Advisory Board.

Luminaries

Speaking of Christmas, last year Our Evening of Luminaries was beautiful. We would like to make this a tradition of Confederate Crossing. We have decided that the Saturday before Christmas will be our evening. So the morning of December 18th at 9 a.m., we are asking everyone to drop by the Sales Trailer and help put together the luminaries and to pickup your luminaries. Then, that evening of December 18th starting at 6 p.m. and going to 8 p.m. we will sit out the Light our Luminaries. All materials are paid for by the Advisory Board and your generous donations. The luminaries are not paid for out of our fees or sponsorships. We will once again have out a donation bag for you contributions.

By-Laws and Covenant Amendments
Please make sure your voice is heard

Mr. Walter Williams has generously offered to have his lawyers amend our By-Laws and Covenants for us before the Associations turns over to the homeowners. We are asking every home owner to read our By-Laws and Covenants carefully and if you see things that are missing or need to added submit your request to Annie Hicks at annie.hicks@fnf.com.  An example would be, under Article 5.3, we need to add which types of yard fences are permitted. Please keep in mind that any changes made will only be to benefit the entire community. If you do not have a copy of our By-Laws and Covenants, please contact one of the Advisory Board members to obtain a copy.

We would like to give a very huge THANK YOU to the Hillin’s Children. In the spirit of being good Samaritans, the children went around after Hurricane Jeanne and gave a helping hand to several neighbors in picking and cleaning up their yards. We all can learn from the Hillin’s Children, reach out and help you neighbors.

Another special thanks to Chester and Susan Bach for their time and effort in helping clean up the front entrance. They used their own money to spruce up the entrance. A few of the advisory members offered their time but again no others came forward. Don’t be afraid to help each other. There is no pressure for perfection just trying to work together as a neighborhood that cares.

Your neighbor Reginald Jackson builds homemade swing sets. If you are interested please stop by and see his handy work at 10647 Grayson Court.

For those of us who have a pool, check out the great Algae tip from our new neighbor Steve & Susan Yates, on our web site www.confederatecrossing.org. Keep a watch on the web site for other pool tips from the Yates. You may contact them at 781-1761 or sssyates@aol.com with other questions.

Mr. Doug Hillin also our neighbor has a lawn maintenance business. Again if you need someone to take care of your lawn please contact him for prices 781-6290

Finally, I wish to thank everyone for their continued support of the newsletter. Any suggestions and comments are welcomed.
Thanks Jennie Hoffman, 786-4270 Hoffmandd@aol.com
