PROJECTS IN DISTRICT 12

Courtesy of City Council Member Daniel Davis

The new 50,000 sq.ft. Library will include a Popular Library, Adult Section, Teen Section, Children's Area , a multi-purpose meeting room for 200 people, an electronic classroom, study group rooms and tutoring rooms.  A Library Store and Café are also anticipated.  The site is located on South Chaffee Road and expected to be completed in late 2004.

Crystal Springs park will be getting soccer goals in the next couple of months.

The Jacksonville Equestrian Center and Cecil Recreation Complex opened on March 20, 2004.  This development includes the equestrian center with the capacity to host regional and national competitions.  The recreational area includes a community center for family activities and entertainment, as well as an aquatics center and a four field softball complex.  The swimming is free to the public. Call for open swim times 630-4100.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION:  Crystal Springs and Hammond Blvd. Will be expanded to three lanes including sidewalks, bike paths, curb and gutter.  The estimated start date is late 2006.  Mr. Davis is pushing for an earlier start date but land acquisition may cause it to be delayed until 2006.

The Chaffee Pointe Shopping center is expecting retail and restaurants: Western Outfitters Store, Blonds Tanning; King Wok; Happy Nails, Happy Feet; Fast Boys Wings; Sony's Barbecue; Dollar General and more will be added in the months to come.  The Hampton Inn is currently being built.  Council Member Daniel Davis is working toward getting a Cracker Barrel or other major restaurant chain at this location.

 NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS

Wow, the neighborhood is growing.  It is wonderful to see new families join us. Welcome to you all.  All lots have been  sold, either to new homeowners or current builders.

I know that trying to keep up with the yard work, especially in this heat, is difficult.  Please remember that in the Confederate Crossing Covenant and Restrictions you are required to maintain your yards.  If you are unable to, please ask a neighbor for assistance. I am sure they would be willing to help out once in awhile.

Trash seems to be another issue.  Please be courteous and pick it up.

Any changes to your property must first be approved by the Architectural Review Board.  Some things seem so minor but they still need to be approved.  Contact Jeannie Somerset for further information.

You may  notice at the top of this page a photo of our entrance.  I feel we could spruce it up just a little.  I know that some of the advisory board will volunteer their time. If any of the other homeowners would like to help e-mail me at hoffmandd@aol.com.   If not I won’t mention it again

You can also view this newsletter on the web @ www.confederatecrossing.org.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Have a great summer and watch out for the little ones.
